About Quibo

Why Quibo exists

Quibo is software that helps UK construction subcontractors prepare and file their own CIS tax refund. You stay in control the whole way: you file the claim, and the refund is paid straight into your own account.

We're not a tax agent and we're not here to replace your accountant. We're the tool that does the slow, fiddly part — the digging, the sorting and the paperwork — so checking what you're owed takes minutes instead of an evening.

Built by people who know CIS

The Construction Industry Scheme takes 20–30% off your pay at source, before a single tool, mile or tank of diesel is counted. That's exactly why so many subcontractors end up overpaying.

We built Quibo around how that scheme actually works on the ground — for sole traders on the tools, not finance teams. The questions are in plain English, the examples are tailored to your trade, and nothing assumes you've kept a perfect shoebox of receipts.

How the AI does the heavy lifting

The AI does the digging and the maths; you stay the one who decides and files. Here's what it's doing behind the scenes.

  1. 1

    Reads every transaction

Upload your statements and the AI works through each line — no scrolling through a year of payments yourself. A one-tap bank connection through UK Open Banking is on the way.

  2. 2

Sorts the work costs from the rest

It groups the spend that looks like the cost of being on the tools — van, fuel, tools, PPE, phone — and sets aside everything that clearly isn't.

  3. 3

    Only asks when it's unsure

Where a transaction could go either way, it asks you one plain question — “was that £60 at the pump for work?” — instead of guessing.

  4. 4

    Drafts the paperwork

It pulls the figures together into a claim you can review, with a backup pack kept on file in case HMRC ever asks questions.

Conservative by design

Over-claiming isn't a shortcut — it's a problem waiting to land back on you. So Quibo is built to be cautious on purpose.

Estimates, not promises
Every figure is shown as a conservative estimate, not a guarantee. Your final refund is subject to HMRC review — we never put a number on it we can't stand behind.
Double-checked, not inflated
Where something is borderline, we ask rather than assume, and the claim only includes what you can reasonably stand behind if asked.

It's a flat fee — typically cheaper than a traditional accountant — and it's no-win, no-fee: you're only charged once your refund is confirmed. What it isn't is a replacement for regulated tax advice. If your affairs are complex, an accountant is still the right call.
